CONVENIENT PHILOSOPHY VS . CONVICTION

Due to our cleverness , we distort swami's statements to suit our convenience. If baba says, " duty is god ," some devotees prepare to leave puttaparthi because they claim that it is their duty to attend their work. Then there are others who come to puttaparthi during vacation or those who are retired. Such people would say," baba said ,' to be with me is the greatest gift of life.' Therefore i am here.

Due to our cleverness , we take one of his quotes to suit our advantage. We are even ready to commercialise god. Unfortunately , therefore , we miss the depth of the divine utterances. We miss the very significance of divine teachings because we prefer our convenience

TRUE SERVICE IS CONTINUOUS , NOT SEASONAL

True idealism requires us to serve continuously and it is not seasonal. One cannot say that one serves only during specific periods. Service is a life long activity , till the last breath. We should seek every opportunity to be of service because the chance that comes now may not be there later , may be not for another life time . Hence , let us be motivated to serve.

KILL OUT THE DESIRES OF LIFE

For the fulfilment of life desires ,one needs time. So ,desire is a promise and a hope and hence it is the future. Spirituality is not a desire ,per se . Religion is not a desire. This is because desire is futuristic and related to time But spirituality speaks of life here and now . God , ' here and now ' is not a question of desire. Desiring means postponement and that which is to occur in the future. We should therefore weed out desires of life.


once a devotee said to bhagavan that he wanted to be born again and serve swami in his next avatar as prema sai. Bhagavan's response was " it is enough if you serve me now . You don't have to wait for the arrival of prema sai. " . So , even the desire to live long or for rebirth should be dropped. Being very much alive and full of life now , we carry god's grace. let us bask in the sun shine of his love, under the canopy of divinity. We are in the magnetic field of divinity. When this is so ,why pine for lesser things? Once we desire ,the charm, beauty, and grandeur are lost , because life is here and now . God is here and now - nothing to do with the future.

CONVENIENT PHILOSOPHY

On some occasions baba says , 'no worship ,no prayer ,no meditation,no scriptural reading - none of these are spiritual . Only the path of enquiry is spiritual '. Yet , we find him sitting in the yajna during dasara. He sits during bhajan and recieves arati. Earlier he said , " no puja , No bhajan - they are all non-spiritual " . All this puts us in a dilemma . In such situations people take the convinient way out and do what suits them.
